This course is aimed at anyone who is involved in cleaning and disinfection of water systems applying stabilised hydrogen peroxide. This can include, water hygiene operatives, plumbers, managers, responsible people and property owners who require an understanding of the process.

It will explain when and why disinfections are required and the different dose rates to suit each scenario and the method / process required to dose different systems. How to work safely with the chemical and the precautions to take to protect users of the water system being disinfected.

A basic understanding of the chemistry in use and how it kills waterborne bacteria is also covered.

A practical element will be undertaken in which candidates will be expected to follow a risk assessment and method statement to achieve a thorough and safe disinfection of a water system.

  • Discussion and feedback.

  • Written exam on the theoretical topics covered on this course.

  • Practical element subject to successful completion of written exam.

Pre-requisites – It is advisable to have undertaken the Legionella Awareness Course (within last 3 years).

Assessment Method – Multiple Choice Test Paper Exam.

Practical training will be assessed via observation of practical task completion.
