This course is aimed at Duty Holders & Responsible People who are responsible for legionella control within their business, at their place of work or in any other setting. The course will cover all duties under L8, HSG 274, HTM04-01 and BS8580-1:2019. It also covers responsibilities and duties under BS8558 and the management of contractors.

It also covers the risk associated with a lack of adherence to currant guidance and standards and the moral, financial and legal implications which may arise as a consequence.

The course is perfect for anyone responsible for the management and control of legionella in the vast majority of building types and scenarios. It will help you understand your duties and the input required during all parts of the legionella control process. This includes, The Written Scheme, Legionella Risk Assessments, Preventative Maintenance & Managing Contractors.

It is the perfect course for but not exclusive to, Directors, Managers, Head Teachers, Business Managers, Site Managers and Health & Safety Managers.

FULL COURSE CONTENT 

  • Introduction. 

  • Basic legionella awareness refresher.

  • The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 (relevant sections).

  • The role of the Duty Holder & Responsible Person.

  • The duty of the Legionella Control Association.

  • The link between legionella control and WRAS (water regulations).

  • Understanding who could be considered a competent person and training requirements

  • An overview of what you should expect from your legionella risk assessment, frequencies of assessment and water system schematics.

  • An overview of water systems & the risks they present.

  • An understanding of planned preventative maintenance regimes and what should be covered by you and / or your contractors.

  • Associated record keeping.

  • Water sampling frequencies and requirements

  • Discussion and feedback.

  • Written exam on the theoretical topics covered on this course.

Pre-requisites – Legionella Awareness (within last 3 years).

Assessment Method – Multiple Choice Test Paper Exam

Practical training will be assessed via observation of practical task completion.
